A 25 year old man by the name of Boyan Slat from The Netherlands has started an Organisation called "The Ocean Cleanup" which has a floating system designed to capture plastics ranging from small pieces just millimeters in size, up to large debris, including massive discarded fishing nets (ghost nets). Models show that a full-scale clean-up system roll-out could clean 50% of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in just five years. The Ocean Clean-up projects to be able to remove 90% of ocean plastic by 2040.'
I am very passionate about recycling and cleaning up our beaches. The plastic and rubbish is rapidly growing and something needs to be done to reduce this problem.
If you want to know more about the organisation please have a look at his website I'm sure you will find it very impressive.
BEACHCOMBER GIN'S MISSION
My idea is that I want to promote recycling as well as cleaner oceans. So for every empty used bottle that is returned to me, I will donate to the Ocean Clean-up Organisation. I will collect any bottles when I deliver an order.
